Tiger Woods upbeat despite missed chances at Honda Classic
Tiger Woods remained positive after carding a one-under 69 on day three at the Honda Classic, despite missing a number of chances to get closer to the leaders, Sky Sports report.
Woods, 42, was satisfied with his long game but admitted that the greens in Florida remained his toughest challenge, and he is now hoping to put pressure on the players in front of him with a final round surge up the leaderboard.
The 14-time major winner is seven shots off the pace, with American Luke List leading the way on seven under, and fellow countrymen Justin Thomas and Webb Simpson both entering the final round on six under.
Talking to the media after his round, Woods remained upbeat despite a number of missed chances.
Overall, I feel very pleased to shoot something in the red and give myself a chance going into tomorrow, but I just didn’t get anything to go in there for most of the early part of the round. I can’t be that annoyed because I played really well.
A high profile player who did struggle however was world number 10 Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman could not improve his score as he slipped to seven over after a three-over-par 73.
