Tiger Woods has expressed how Phil Mickelson’s victory at the WGC-Mexico Championship is motivating him to get back to winning ways once again.
Once rivals, in age, Mickelson and Woods have found something of a common denominator.
With Woods five years Mickelson’s junior, the sheer amount of golf this pair have played stands out amongst the rest of the tour.
As Woods returns from back surgery, he referred to Mickelson’s win – his first in five years – as providing him with inspiration.

What Phil is doing is showing us we can still do it later in our careers. Davis (Love) did it at 51 (winning in 2015), Phil at 47. I think Kenny Perry won a handful of events (in his late 40s). So there are guys who can do it late in their career.
Heading into the Valspar Championship in Florida on Thursday, Woods will be hoping he can settle into some form on what has been a turbulent season for him to this point.
