Tiger Woods has expressed how Phil Mickelson’s victory at the WGC-Mexico Championship is motivating him to get back to winning ways once again.

As Woods returns from back surgery, he referred to Mickelson’s win – his first in five years – as providing him with inspiration.

I thought it was great,

What Phil is doing is showing us we can still do it later in our careers. Davis (Love) did it at 51 (winning in 2015), Phil at 47. I think Kenny Perry won a handful of events (in his late 40s). So there are guys who can do it late in their career.

Heading into the Valspar Championship in Florida on Thursday, Woods will be hoping he can settle into some form on what has been a turbulent season for him to this point.

Decent performances at the Honda Classic and the Farmers Insurance Open are separated by a tough few days at the Genesis Open, where the 79-time PGA event winner missed the cut.
