Luke Donald and Brandon Grace share the lead at the top of the leaderboard on day one after rounds of 66 from the Englishman and South African.

Donald got off to a good start as he trying to win his first tournament since 2012. He carded back-to-back birdies on holes two and three which propelled him to the top end of the leaderboard. Donald also birdied the sixth but a bogey on eight which meant he finished the front nine on two-under.

The British Masters host then went and birdied holes 11, 13 and 17 to take the clubhouse lead at the time.

Brandon Grace, the man who joined Donald at the top of the leaderboard. Grace carded back-to-back birdies on holes one and two to get him to two under par. Grace shot further birdies on holes five and nine to finish the back nine at four-under par. The South African got to the lowest score of the day on six under after birdies on 13 and 15, but after a bogey on the last, he fell back into a tie for the lead.

World number one Jason Day could only shoot a four under 67 after five birdies and one bogey.

English duo Ian Poulter and Matthew Fitzpatrick could only shoot a one-over 72 and will need a big day in round two if they are to guarantee they have made the weekend.
