Chappell taking it one step at a time

Kevin Chappell says he is taking it one step at a time as he is trying to home in on victory this weekend.

Tied at the top with Day, Chappell made a lightning start to the round after shooting back-to-back birdies on holes one and two, and then birdied the third as well to get to three under for the day.

Chappell moved onto the back nine needing one birdie to get one clear at the top, but he bogeyed the par four 11th hole. He got that shot back on the 14th and that was it on day two for the American.

Chappell told the PGA Tour.com: “I holed out well from very close and I feel I have a very good understanding of the greens.

“My putting style is the aim point express and really rely on my feet and I’v done a very good job with that this week and I look forward to the challenge this weekend.”

Chappell then commented on his chances this weekend: “Well I haven’t looked at the weather which is going to determine what the scoring is going to do around here but this place is in great shape and I feel my game is in a good place but i’m just going to take it just one shot at a time and have as much fun as I can.”
