Jason Day wants to bounce back from a below-par Masters with a victory this weekend and is in prime position to do so as he is tied at the top with Kevin Chappell and Charley Hoffman.
He told the PGA Tour.com : “It was good you know. Everyone was expecting tougher conditions, rain, and the wind (there was no rain).
“The hardest part was trying to pick the right gust (of wind).
“It can go from being 20mph wind to nothing, for me I went from hitting a five iron on eight, to then almost hitting a seven iron. It was a very tough day out there, I was just happy to get in a two-under.”

Day then continued on to talk about is shot five that went out of bounds. He said: “I just tried to hit a nice big draw around the corner (on five), I was thinking if I could get a nice one around the corner then maybe I might be able to get there on in two pretty easily but I just kind of came out of it. I double crossed it and came too far on the inside of my swing and hit the ball right.
“Tomorrow I don’t need to be as aggressive with that hole, I can just lay up and try and make a birdie by wedging it close.
“I have got to minimise the mistakes, that was just a mental error which you can’t have, fortunately, I managed to escape with a six and not a seven.”
