It could have been so much worse!

Chris Kirk says the weather could have been a lot worse on the second at the RBC Heritage Open.

Kirk shot a five-under-par round of 66 including birdies on holes two, four, five, six, 12 and 17 but after a dropped shot on three, it brought the 30-year-old back to five under, four under and well within striking distance of the leaders.

The American told the PGA Tour.com: “Yes I really played well, I hit some really solid Iron shots.

“I adjusted something in the week with my irons with the PXG guys and that really helped out in the wind today.”

The American continued on to talk about his chip-in on 17. He said: “I hit what I thought was a really nice iron shot but the greens are so firm and It just ran over into what I thought was a tricky but thankfully it came out like I thought It would.

“I was figuring, today was going to be a much worse day than it was and we even managed to avoid the rain thank goodness but it was cold and windy but it’s always nice to think it could be so much worse!”
