Russell Knox enters the weekend only one shot off the lead in tied second with Luke Donald and has an outside chance with Jason Day, Charley Hoffman and Kevin Chappell in front of him.
Knox told the PGA Tour.com: “I holed so many nice putts today.
“I struggled which seems like forever, but since Mexico with my putting, but this week I made a little adjustment coming into this week and today was the best I have putted in a long, long time.”

The Scotsman continued to talk about what’s it’s like struggling then it clicks. He said: “I had a full team up here with me this week and we figured it out.
“Yesterday wasn’t a good day but practice works! I am kind of lazy at times so I just need to put in the time. I did have a little practice before my round today and I think I’m going to do it again tomorrow.
Knox said on birdieing 18: Oh yes it’s a tough hole. I was somewhere between a four and a five but I smoked a five iron and to make the putt was a huge bonus.
