Andrew Johnston held off Joost Luiten and Sergio Garcia to claim his first European Tour title at Cub Valderrama.
On a day where scoring was a lot easier than over the last three rounds. Johnston got off to a bad start as he carded a bogey five at the first. Johnston steadied the ship with five straight pars before shooting back-to-back birdies on holes seven and eight to finish on one under for the round heading into the back nine.

The world number 285 carded a further four pars before getting back to level for the day after shooting a bogey on the par four 14th hole to bring him back to level with Luiten but after carding a birdie on the 16th, it confirmed the victory for the Finchley-based player.
Sergio Garcia made the most of the ‘easier’ conditions in Spain as he got off to a flying start by carding back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth hole. He also birdied the ninth to get to three-under for the day.
It was a mixed back nine for the Spaniard as he birdied the 12th, 16th, and 17th but bogeyed the 15th and 18th.
Soren Kjeldsen also had a good day as he finished the tournament on four under level with defending champion James Morrison after a three under round.
