Maiden victory for Grace

Brandon Grace has won his first PGA Tour title as he shot a final round 66 to beat Luke Donald and Russel Knox.

Grace started the day with back-to-back birdies on the first and second hole to get him to six under par for the championship to sit one off Donald.

The South African then bogeyed the fourth hole but more back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth drew him level at the top of the leaderboard. Grace took the lead when he carded a birdie on the ninth hole.

Things started slowly on the back nine as the 27-year-old could only card two pars. But on the 12th and 13th, he shot two birdies to get to 10 under par for the tournament, but a bogey on the 17th didn’t stop him winning the title.

It was an average day for Luke Donald, who took a one-shot lead into the final round but he just couldn’t get it going.

The Englishman could only card six straight pars to start. When he finally made a birdie on the seventh, he gave the shot back straight back on the next. But fortunately for Donald, he again birdied the ninth to get to eight under par.

The 38-year-old carded a bogey on the 10th hole to get back to level for the day at that was it from Donald who then carded eight straight pars to miss out on his first win in three years.

American Bryson DeChambeau started his professional career well as he finished in a tie for fourth place and went home £175,000 richer.
