Dutchman Joost Luiten has said he is pleased with his week’s work as he finished in second place, one shot ahead of tournament host Sergio Garcia.
It was a relatively quiet day for the world number 83 as he carded a level par round of 71. He shot a bogey on the par three third hole to get to three over for the tournament but got to one over for the championship after he carded back-to-back birdies on holes four and five. Another blemish went of Luiten’s card as he bogeyed the par five 11th hole which gave the win to Andrew Johnston.

Luiten told the European Tour.com: “Second is never bad. I made a couple of mistakes to win down the stretch on the back nine. Didn’t hit them close enough to really make birdies, and the mistake on 11, the bogey on 11 felt like it might have been the game changer.
“I’ve had a solid week and I’m playing solid in tough conditions so I’m happy with the way I played and the way I hung in there today.

“I had a good start, my putter was going nicely in the first five, six holes, rolling in a couple of par putts and birdie putts, and then after that I didn’t really hit them close enough to make birdies, and that’s what I had to do towards the end there.
“I hit a poor shot into 17, chickened out a bit, but it was a good week.”
