Brandon Steele is out in front all on his own after a two under par round of 70 has got him to 10 under par, three ahead of Scott Langley.
Steele carded three birdies in a row at holes two, three and four but bogeyed the fifth to get back to two-under for the day.
The American got to three under par on by birdieing the eighth but gave that shot straight back on the ninth.
Steele stated the back nine with four straight pars before birdieing the 14th. The 33 year-old shot a double bogey on the 15th but managed to birdie the 17th to get back to two under.
It was mixed day for Englishman Luke Donald who had to complete his round one early in the morning.
The British Masters host started his round two well as he birdied holes three, eight and nine.
But he could only bogey the 14th on the back nine five of the lead on five under par.
Padraig Harrington currently sits on three under par for the tournament after on his return to the Tour after an extended break.
The Irishman was one under for day two after three birdies and two bogeys.
