Lee claims two-shot victory

Soomin Lee claimed a two-shot victory over Joost Luiten and Brandon Stone on day five of the Shenzhen International.

Play was forced into Monday due adverse weather conditions all through the week and Lee was the man to rise to the challenge as he finished on 16 under par for the tournament.

Lee resumed on Monday morning from the 14th hole in a tie at the top of the leaderboard with Alexander Levy and Lee Slattery.

The South Korean parred his first two holes (the 13th and 14th) before opening his birdie account with one on 16.

The new world number 127 managed to eagle the par five 17th in a special fashion, to get him to 17 under for the tournament. Lee bogeyed the last but that didn’t stop him taking the title.

Levy stuttered on day five as he could only play his remaining six holes in one over par. The Frenchman left his second shot on the 17th in the water and was left to card a bogey six which all but ended his chances.

The other man tied at the top after day four, Slattery, only managed to finish his last six holes in one-over par after carding a bogey five at the par four 15th hole which also ended his chances.

Next up on the European tour is the Volvo China Open.
