‘I feel a little bit of bittersweetness’

Brandon Stone admits he feels a little bit of bittersweetness after the Shenzhen International in China but says it was a good week nonetheless.

The South African, who won the South Africa Open back in January, has faltered a bit since then but has recently returned to form after finishing on 14 under par last weekend alongside Dutchman Joost Luiten.

Stone told the European Tour.com : “A little bit of bittersweetness, but still a great week nonetheless.”

“I played great, I really did, from Thursday all the way to Monday. I’ve really hit the ball great. I’m hitting some great putts that just aren’t finding the hole.

“A little bit frustrating in the end there. I hit some great putts on 16, 17, that really should have gone in. I thought they were in the whole way. But 14 under par, sitting second, you can’t really complain.

“I said to my caddie, ‘we’ve just got to give ourselves a chance every hole’, and that’s what we did. We were very fortunate.

“We gave ourselves a chance and that’s all we can do today. Played great the whole week but, like I said, a little bit disappointing.”
