Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the US PGA Championship, which will be held at Baltusrol in Springfield, from July 28-3, and is ruled for the remainder of the season. Will miss all four majors of the season for the first time since his Master’s debut in 1995.
The 14-time major champion is ruled out for the remainder of the season over injury concerns, reports BBC Golf.
The 40-year-old American has not played in a competitive tournament this season and hasn’t played since last season, with his last start coming at the Wyndham Championship.
This comes as no surprise to fans who have seen the former world No1 suffer multiple back injuries and have two back operations last autumn in the hope of curing the back problem.
There is no specified time for Woods’ return and his agent has confirmed that he will not play for the rest of the season, as he is not ready for ‘tournament golf’.

The PGA of America, through PGA.com, gave this statement;
“We have been in contact with Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, and he informed us today that our four-time PGA Champion will be unable to join us at Baltusrol Golf Club next week for the 98th PGA Championship.”
In May, Woods’ told the world’s media at the Quicken Loans National that he still believes he can beat Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major victories and beat Sam Snead’s impressive record of 82 PGA Tour wins.
“It would be nice to end up at No. 1 on both lists. It’s going to take time to get to that point but hopefully, I can get back out here and play to that level.”
Woods has now slumped to a world ranking 628 and has not won a major for 8 years, with his last coming at Torrey Pines in 2008 where he won the U.S. Open.
