Chinese golfer Li Haotong is brimming with confidence after beating Rory McIlroy in the Dubai Desert Classic last week and is aiming for another victory at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia, according to a report on the European Tour.
Li managed to overcome McIlroy by one shot which left his opponent frustrated, especially after the Irishman was leading by two shots towards the end.

However, the thrilling victory has helped to boost the confidence of Li, who believes that anything can happen in Malaysia.
It’s definitely such a big honour after last week. I gained a lot of confidence and experience, so quite happy I can be out there and in that position.
It gave me a lot of confidence and I am feeling great, especially against Rory on Sunday. I think nothing to lose and staying patient was key. Sometimes one week can change everything, I will try my best to play well this week and hopefully have a special week.
The 22-year-old made history as he became the first ever Chinese golfer to be ranked in the top 50 players in the world and Li is hoping to continue his rapid progress in the sport.
There is now more pressure on his young shoulders but Li believes that he can use the pressure to his advantage as it can help him to play the best golf of his career.
Li is ranked 32nd in the world and is aiming to continue rising through the ranks before the end of the year.
