Woods eager to get back to Augusta

Tiger Woods is reportedly keen to get back to the thrill of playing in The Masters at Augusta.

Having last played in Georgia in 2015, Woods has been on the comeback trail from spinal surgery so far this season.

A top-25 finish at Torrey Pines featured some incredible recovery shots from the 42-year-old, but his performance at the Genesis Open revealed a player still very much separated from the world’s best.

Missing the cut by four shots at Riviera, Woods hit seven bogeys in a disastrous second round.

Admittedly “still learning” what he can and can’t do post-operation, the four-time Masters winner isn’t letting that take away his joy at competing at the tournament.

We play at Augusta each and every year, and I just think that even though the golf course has changed dramatically from when I first started playing, I just understand where to miss the golf ball,

It helps that I’ve won there four times and I’ve won there under different layouts, basically. It really is a comfort when you look at what I’ve done, what Phil’s (Mickelson) done, what Freddie (Couples) has done every single year for the past hundred years. It’s the same with Bernhard (Langer).

Commenting on what his two years away from one of golf’s most prestigious competitions has made him realise, Woods said:

I just miss the rush of competing for a Green Jacket. I’ve been doing it since I was 19 years old, and I’ve enjoyed every single challenge.
