Phil Mickelson edged Justin Thomas in a tense playoff battle to claim the WGC-Mexico Championship title, according to a report on the Golf Monthly.
47-year-old Mickelson parred the first extra hole to win his 46th title and end a run of 101 tournaments without a win.
Mickelson created history as he becomes the oldest ever winner of a World Golf Championship and it was thoroughly deserved.

The win is his first since 2013 and he was understandably very pleased with his achievement.
He said:
I can’t put into words how much this means to me, its been a long time. To come here to Mexico City with the fans here and play against the best players in the world and finally come through. I knew it was going to come soon, I was playing too well for it not to but you never know until it happens.
My game is starting to get to a level that is some of my best golf and it seems like it’s just in time. It’s nice to be in that small circle called the winner’s circle; I haven’t been in it for a while.
Mickelson was pushed all the way by world number two Thomas who played extremely well to get himself into a position where he could have won.
However, he revealed that he was pleased for Mickelson and was happy with a “great” week of golf for himself and his competitors.
