Westwood backs seven consecutive winners at Cheltenham

If you’ve been having bad week at Cheltenham, then maybe you ought to listen to Lee Westwood.

In addition to being one of the best golfers in the world, a 42-time event winner, and a three-time European Tour Golfer of the Year, the Nottinghamshire-native picked the winner of every single race on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival.

Placing the horses on a Betfred offer called “totejackpot”, where a punter must name the first six winners of the day, the lucky Westwood received a sizeable payout.

Following his good luck, the 44-year-old decided to place a bet on the last race of the day as well – that horse won too, giving him an astonishing seven winners from seven races.

Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, Westwood said:

I put £128 on the tote (totejackpot) and it paid just under £22,000.
