Rory McIlroy confirms participation in BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth

Rory McIlroy has announced that he will participate in the BMW PGA Championship in May, according to a report on the Belfast Telegraph.

The world number seven has previously played in the European Tour’s flagship event, winning it back in 2014.

However, the Irishman missed the event last year as he was ruled out of action with a rib injury, but this year he is part of an exciting lineup.

McIlroy said:

I’m looking forward to going back to Wentworth. I haven’t played there in a couple of years but from what I’ve seen, with the new grass that they’ve put in, it looks a much better golf course, a much more playable golf course.

If Wentworth gets good weather, and hopefully we do, the crowds are awesome, the golf course is great, and the area is beautiful, so I’m looking forward to going back. At least I do have good memories there.

The former world number one has seen an increase in his form in recent months and is going into the Masters Championship at Augusta filled with confidence.

McIlroy was victorious at the Arnold Palmer Invitational a few weeks ago and is one of the favourites to wear the famous Green Jacket at the Masters.
