Woods expected to make Ryder Cup team

Tiger Woods is set to secure a place in the US Ryder Cup team, this in the mind of CBS Sports golf reporter Kyle Porter.

With the Ryder Cup still five months away, any ideas floated around now will be mere projections – but Porter believes that United States’ captain Jim Furyk can’t leave Wood at home.

The 42-year-old has been enjoying a career renaissance in 2018, with a series of good performances on the PGA Tour being headlined by a tied-second finish at the Valspar Championship in Florida.

In addition, making the cut at the Masters is further proof the former world number one is closer to his best than he has been at any time in the last ten years.

Despite not boasting a ranking similar to other likely Team USA members, Porter considers that inconsequential:

Unless Woods misses, like, 10 cuts in a row, he’s going to be on the team. His ranking matters less than anyone else’s on either team, if only because the Thomas-Fowler-Spieth contingent will revolt if he’s not playing alongside them.

With the Le Golf Nacional course outside Paris poised to host a weekend of the most encapsulating golfing tournament in existence, it seems Tiger Woods will be in attendance with a club in his hand.
