Jason Day storms into Wells Fargo Championship lead

Australian Jason Day will take a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, after carding a superb four-under 67 in his third round, BBC report.

The 30-year-old, who is looking for his 12th win on the PGA Tour, stormed the back nine on Saturday to give himself some breathing space ahead of Sunday’s final round.

Day’s closest challenger is American Nick Watney on eight-under.

Fellow American Peter Uihlein shot the round of the day, a nine-under 62 at Quail Hollow to put himself into a tie for third alongside England’s Paul Casey who still has a shot at the title.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy enjoyed a third round 66 which leaves him in a group of nine at three under.

While Tiger Woods, who just creeped into the weekends play, shot a third-round 68, leaving him on one under heading into the final round.
