Putting woes continue for Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods endured yet another tournament where his putting was not up to the required standard as he finished in 55th place in the Wells Fargo Championship, according to a report on ESPN.

Woods failed to make a birdie in a round for only the 11th time in his illustrious career. The American failed to gain any momentum around the course and hit plenty of wide shots, adding to his frustration.

This is the second worst finish he has had this year and he knows that he must improve his putting massively if he is to win an event before the end of the year.

Speaking after the tournament at Quail Hollow, Woods said:

I hit the ball halfway decent today. Hit some good drives that just ended up off the fairway, some landed in the fairway, so I wasn’t disappointed with that. Again, just not putting well and didn’t make a birdie today. I got shut out.

I just didn’t hit good putts, and on top of that, the ones I did hit well, I didn’t have enough speed on them.

It’s just one of those weeks and I’m on to the next week, which is nice. That’s one of the great things about golf is that once the tournament’s over, you’re on to next week.

Woods is preparing to play in this week’s Players Championship at TPC-Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. His last victory there came in 2013 and he will be hoping to show signs of improvement.
