Tiger Woods can’t wait to play with Phil Mickelson again

Tiger Woods is relishing the chance to play with long-time rival come friend Phil Mickelson this week, reports the Express.

The two future legends of the game will be in the same playing group for the first two rounds of the Players Championship, alongside world number six Rickie Fowler.

The duo played together before the Masters this year, and have grown to be good friends over the years.

Former world number one Woods is looking forward to the opportunity for the two to play together once again:

We don’t get to do it very often. We are normally paired up on the weekend if we are both playing well, and even that’s a rarity.

All three in the group have won the Players Championship before, although Woods last won in 2013 and Mickelson’s sole victory was back in 2007.

Speaking about their rivalry, Woods was excited that the two have been able to have it going for this long:

We don’t get the opportunity to do it very often. We’ve been going at it for the better part of over 20 years and it’s fun for both of us to be able to do that.
