18-time major winner Jack Nicklaus has admitted that Tiger Woods has a great opportunity to surpass that record before he retires, according to a report on Sky Sports.
Woods has won 14 majors during his successful career and is now beginning to find some of his best form, which has Nicklaus believing that he could break his long-standing record.

Woods’ last major victory came 10 years ago in the 2008 US Open and he will be hoping for a similar return during this year’s edition of the tournament.
When speaking about the possibility of Woods breaking his record, 78-year-old Nicklaus said:
Tiger has not had that much fun the last 10 years – and I would hate to go through what he has been through as he has been through a lot – but he is a hard worker, he is a tough competitor and he is still driven, so that is why I would never count him out.
I have always said that if Tiger comes back and plays then he has still got a shot at breaking my record.
Whether he does or he doesn’t, and even with now 10 years passing, it doesn’t make any difference – he is still a great athlete and a great golfer.
42-year-old Woods is eager to rediscover his winning form, with his last win coming in 2013.
