Brooks Koepka kept his composure to retain his US Open title after coming under severe pressure from a late charge by Tommy Fleetwood, as reported on the Evening Standard.
The American created history as he became the first player to win consecutive US Open titles in 29 years.
The 28-year-old won the tournament by one shot as he closed with a two-under-par 68 to top the leaderboard at one over.

England’s Fleetwood came agonisingly close to winning but just couldn’t do enough to seal a historic win.
Fleetwood was in terrific form and had a seven-under-par 63, which is the joint-lowest round in US Open history.
Koepka was extremely pleased about retaining his title and said:
This is incredible. I don’t think I could have dreamed of going back-to-back. It’s truly special and I am honoured.
I always felt like I had a chance. I was never out of it. I just needed to keep grinding. I knew the conditions would ease up a bit and I took advantage of it.
Fleetwood was also pleased with how well he played and knows that he is continuing to improve every year. Last year, the Englishman finished fourth in this tournament and he has now upgraded into the second position and he is hoping that next year, he goes one step further.
Current world number one Dustin Johnson finished third in what was a tournament filled with controversy at Shinnecock Hills.
