Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy continued to bounce back from his US Open disappointment with a solid second round at the Travelers Championship.
The 29-year-old, who missed the cut in the year’s second major at Shinnecock Hills last week after a disappointing opening round of 80, followed his brilliant first round 64 with a 69 in Connecticut.
The card of 69 has left McIlroy three shots off the outright leader Brian Harman heading into the weekend’s action.

McIlroy, a four-time major winner, took the outright lead at the second hole after a 20-foot putt, however, only managed one more birdie at the 15th.
England’s Paul Casey is one shot ahead of McIlroy after his round of 67 to trail Harman by two shots on eight under.
However, it was a day to forget for American Jordan Spieth, who started the second round in a tie for the lead, fell to a second round 73 to leave him on four under, three behind McIlroy and six off the leader.
