Paul Casey matched his career-best round at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut to open up a four-shot lead heading into the final round, Sky Sports report.

The 40-year-old, who is looking for his second win of the season on the PGA Tour, carded an eagle along with six birdies to move to an impressive 16 under.

The Englishman’s closest challenger is American Russell Henley after a solid three-under 67 to leave him on 12 under.

Casey ended nine years without a win on the tour when he edged out Tiger Woods at the Valspar Championship in March, and is the red hot favourite to pick up more silverware in Connecticut.

Rory McIlroy again carded a one under par 69 for the second successive round and is eight shots adrift of Casey.

Pre-tournament favourite Jordan Spieth will only be playing for pride on Sunday however, after he carded a third round 71 to leave himself 13 shots off Casey.
