Tiger six shots off co-leaders at Quicken Loans National
Despite carding a third round two-under 68 at the Quicken Loans National, Tiger Woods is six shots off joint leaders Francesco Molinari and Abraham Ancer ahead of the final round.
The former world number one made four successive birdies on the front nine on and briefly was just one shot off the lead during the third round.
However, the American, who is chasing his first win since 2013, faded on the back nine and is part of a cluster of players tied in 10th on seven under.
Mexican Ancer produced the round of the day, matching the course record, an eight under 62.
Italian Molinari, who has never won on the PGA Tour, birdied the final two holes for a five under par round of 65.
Despite slipping down the leaderboard, Woods believes he has an outside chance of victory but knows a round like Ancer’s on Saturday could give him a chance of claiming the title.
