Tiger Woods: “It’s been a few years since I’ve felt like this”

Tiger Woods stormed up the leaderboard at The Open on Saturday, with the former world number one just four shots off the leaders heading into the final round at Carnoustie.

The 14-time major champion produced his lowest round at a major since 2011 as a five-under-par 66 put him alongside Rory McIlroy on five under.

There is still work to do if Woods is going to make it major number 15 however, with fellow American’s Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele and Kevin Kisner all four shots clear on nine under.

Talking after his round to Golf Digest, Woods couldn’t hide his excitement heading into a Sunday of a major championship, claiming he hasn’t felt this way on the golf course in years.

It’s been a few years since I’ve felt like this.

I didn’t know if that would ever happen again, but here I am with a chance coming Sunday in a major championship. It’s going to be fun.

The 42-year-old, who is ranked 71st in the world after starting the year in 650th, has not won a major since 2008 and will be hoping to lift the Claret Jug come Sunday evening.
