Former European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance believes that Tiger Woods’ next major success will be his best and has described the American as the ‘greatest player that’s ever lived’.
Woods almost made it major number 15 at the British Open last week when he was the outright leader during the final round, however, a poor performance on the back nine saw him eventually finish in a tie for sixth on five under.

The impressive performance saw Woods shoot up the world rankings into 50th place, putting himself in contention to grab a place at this year’s Ryder Cup.
Talking to Omnisport, former captain Torrance believes that the former world number one will win another major title and has backed him to be chosen at the Ryder Cup.
I wanted [Tiger] to win [at The Open]. I think he’s the greatest player that’s ever lived. Woods plays golf that we’re not familiar with and, in the late 90s, he was just extraordinary.
He’s back, this has proven it and he will win another major. I do expect him to be picked for the Ryder Cup team.
If he wins another major, I think it will be his best win. This is one that has come out of a tough time with injuries and, 18 months ago, he never thought he would play again.
With Woods coming in for plenty of praise from former players over recent months, the 14-time major champion may well find himself competing in his first Ryder Cup for six years in Paris at the end of September.
