Woods and Mickelson set for $9 million PPV showdown

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will face-off in a $9 million winner-takes-all 18-hole match.

Taking place the day after Thanksgiving, the vainly titled “The Match” will be available only on pay-per-view.

Scheduled for Las Vegas, the contest will be available for streaming on the new “B/R Live” platform, owned by Turner Broadcasting.

The clash will see a combined 19 major championships on display, in addition to a mind-boggling 122 PGA titles. Factor in 48 years of professional golfing experience, and the match is poised to be an exhibition of two of the all-time great players.

Woods has been enjoying a resurgent 2018 season, following a period of six months last year where he was unable to swing a club after back surgery. The Open saw the Californian briefly take the lead on the final day, only to falter in the back-nine and finish tied for sixth. The PGA Championship would see the 42-year-old get even closer, placing second behind winner Brooks Koepka.

Mickelson has also bounced back this year, winning his first PGA Tour event in five years at the WGC-Mexico Championship in March.

The lefty failed to finish higher than tied-24th in any of this year’s majors, however.
