Spieth happy to see Woods make Ryder Cup team as wildcard

Jim Furyk named Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Tiger Woods as his wildcards for the fast-approaching Ryder Cup.

The addition of the 14-time major champion is something that few Ryder Cup teams have been able to call upon, and it will mark the 42-year-old’s seventh appearance in the competition.

Beyond the course, the presence of Woods will have a psychological impact in the opinion of Spieth.

The Texan told Golf Week:

I think the home crowd will help,

If I were a young European player and I was going to play the Ryder Cup in the United States, you’ve got an away game, you’re playing against Tiger and you haven’t really seen a whole lot of him or at least him playing as well as he’s playing right now. … Healthy Tiger, that would be something that would make it more difficult, absolutely. He adds something to it. He certainly moves the needle in every sense of the game. So it’s good to have him in our corner for sure.

A completely stacked American team is brimming with world class golfers, and Team Europe will have a job on their hands in France to win the famous trophy back.
