Woods delighted with putting as he leads BMW Championship

Tiger Woods has made a lightning start to the BMW Championship at Aronimink Golf Club as he takes a joint lead with Rory McIlroy after one round, according to a report on the Belfast Telegraph.

Woods and McIlroy have both equalled the course record of 62 in the opening round and currently hold a one-shot lead over  Xander Schauffele and Alex Noren.

Both players went eight-under par in the first round and Woods will be desperate to keep up this form as he seeks his first win since returning to golf almost one year ago.

Woods has had a fine week after being selected as a wildcard for the US Ryder Cup side and he showed exactly why he was picked with a stunning showing in Pennsylvania.

His putting was noticeably a lot better than usual and Woods himself has recognised an improvement in that aspect. He said:

It’s the feel of the swing, I just know it. My body kind of morphs into a position where it just remembers how to set up to this putter and how it swings.

This entire year has just been a moving target because my body is changing as the year goes on. The things I was doing at the start of the year I’m so much better at now, and we’ve had to keep moving the target.

Only the top 30 at the end of the tournament will make it through to the Tour Championship next week and with the way Woods is currently performing, he has every chance of going into next week with one win to his name.
