Rory McIlroy will appear in the Sentry Tournament of Champions for the very first time next year.
Held in January, the Hawaii course will play host to what will be McIlroy’s earliest ever start to a season.

The Irishman has been eligible to play in the tournament on six previous occasions, forgoing his right each time.
2019 will see McIlroy head to Maui to make his debut however, with the 29-year-old having qualified for his victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Quoted by Sky Sports, McIlroy said:
It’s a meaningful tournament to qualify for, because you have to win to get in, and winning is not easy on the PGA Tour,
I can’t wait to get out to Maui in January to experience the Plantation Course and everything the island has to offer.
McIlroy has experienced a hot-and-cold year, with PGA Tour showings proving to be a mixed bag and strong performances at major championships coming up short.
The last three years have seen Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and world number one Dustin Johnson claim the crown, so the tournament does carry a weight of prestige.
