Davis Love III, who captained the USA in the Ryder Cup in 2012 and 2016, has backed Tiger Woods to win another Major, claiming the 14-time champion has his best chance at the Masters, The Straits Times report.
Woods, who has undergone four back surgeries since 2015, has found some serious form this year, and after dropping to 656th in the world, the 42-year-old is now 13th in the men’s rankings after a series of impressive performances.
Despite a disappointing performance at this years Ryder Cup where he failed to pick up a point, Woods ended his five-year wait for a win at the Tour Championship in Atlanta last month, claiming his 80th title in the process.
And after coming back on the scene in such impressive fashion, Love, who captained Woods at the Ryder Cup back in 2012, believes his fellow American and good friend can make it all the way back to the top.
I told him this and we all have been saying that if he played a full season, he can get back on top.
He always has the best chance at the Masters, that’s kind of his comfort zone.
It is a course he knows very well and where he’s played well at. From his schedule, he seems to win multiple times on courses he likes, and I would think that among the Majors, the Masters would be on the top of my list for him to win.
Four of the 14 Majors Woods has won have come at Augusta National, and if he can replicate some of his form from 2018 next year, the 42-year-old may well be one of the favourites to claim the green jacket for a fifth time.
