Tiger Woods has admitted that he been left “exhausted” after a very busy year of golf, according to a report on Yahoo Sports.
The American made a surprising return to form during the year and won the Tour Championship. This was his first victory since 2013 and led to him participating in the Ryder Cup to Team USA.
Woods also secured two top ten finishes in the last two majors of the season and then finally came up against fellow legend Phil Mickelson in a match worth $9m.
He believes the busy schedule has had an impact on him. He said:
I was not physically prepared to play that much golf at the end of the year. I had taken days off here and there, tournaments off, to try to conserve energy and make sure my body was still good, but I ended up playing seven out of nine to end the year.
And it’s one of those years where it’s never been this hot. Every single tournament was just stifling. It was hard for me to maintain my strength and my weight through all of that. I tend to lose a lot of weight when I play and that was one of the struggles.
I was exhausted by the time I got to the Ryder Cup. I was worn out, mentally, physically and emotionally.
Towards the end of the year, I just became more and more consistent as a tournament player again.
Just over a year ago, Woods could barely walk and was having huge problems with his back, but the veteran made a miraculous recovery to entertain golf fans all over the world.
