Who Can Complete Golf’s Career Grand Slam After Rory McIlroy At The Masters 2026?

Completing the Career Grand Slam in golf is one of the rarest achievements in sports.

That was true before Rory McIlroy won the 2025 Masters. It is even more compelling now. McIlroy joined Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only men to complete the career Grand Slam in professional golf. He did it by adding the 2025 Masters to his earlier wins in the U.S. Open, PGA Championship and Open Championship.

Who Could Be Next?

If you are looking at active players, three names stand out.

Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, and Phil Mickelson are the only active men who are just one major away. Scheffler still needs the U.S. Open. Spieth still needs the PGA Championship. Mickelson still needs the U.S. Open.

This of course means that there is nobody starring in the Masters tee times this year who can achieve this feat at Augusta.

Several players are two majors away from a Grand Slam with the Masters being one of those elusive titles, but there isn’t a single professional golfer out there right now who just needs the Green Jacket to complete the slam.

Why Scheffler Feels Like The Best Bet

Right now, Scheffler feels like the most realistic answer.

That is not hype. It is a reflection of how complete his résumé has become. Scheffler added the 2025 PGA Championship and 2025 Open Championship to his two Masters titles last year, leaving only the U.S. Open missing. When a player gets that close while still in his prime, the conversation gets very real, very fast.

Spieth remains fascinating because his missing piece is the PGA Championship. Every time that event comes around, the chatter returns. Mickelson is still part of the story, too, though his chase now feels more historical than likely.

Why This Chase Still Matters

The reason fans love this topic is simple. The career Grand Slam is hard in a way that stays hard.

It demands excellence across four major tests that are very different. That is why Rory’s breakthrough in 2025 mattered so much. He did not just finish a personal journey. He sharpened the spotlight on everyone still one step away. And heading into the heart of the 2026 season, Scheffler is the strongest candidate, Spieth is the most intriguing and the whole chase remains one of golf’s best long-view storylines.
