The LIV Golf caravan rolls into Mexico City this week with momentum building and familiar names setting the pace. Stop six of the 2026 season brings the league’s biggest stars to the high altitude challenge of Club de Golf Chapultepec, where form, power and nerve are all set to be tested.

At the centre of the story is Bryson DeChambeau, who arrives as the man to beat after back to back victories. The Crushers captain has found a winning groove and now leads a chasing pack that includes Jon Rahm and rising contender Elvis Smylie in the individual standings.

A return to altitude

This marks LIV Golf’s second visit to Mexico City and another step in its expanding global journey. The season has already crossed continents and now lands at one of its most distinctive venues. Sitting more than 7000 feet above sea level, Chapultepec offers thinner air and longer ball flights, often turning drives into eye catching distance displays.

Last year, Joaquin Niemann claimed a breakthrough victory here, edging Rahm in a playoff. The Chilean returns as defending champion, eager to recapture the magic at a course that clearly suits his game.

LIV Golf Mexico City storylines to watch

DeChambeau’s recent dominance has lifted both his individual tally and the standing of Crushers GC, now the most successful team in LIV Golf history. Confidence is high and another strong showing would further cement their status as the benchmark.

Rahm continues to deliver remarkable consistency. The Spaniard, a two time reigning individual champion, has barely put a foot wrong this season and leads the points race despite still searching for a team victory with Legion XIII in 2026.

Meanwhile Niemann’s Torque GC brings a strong Latin American identity to the field. With Mexico’s Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz in the lineup alongside Niemann and Sebastian Munoz, local support is expected to be loud and passionate.

There is also a notable absence. Phil Mickelson remains sidelined as he continues to deal with a personal family matter. His spot is expected to be filled by Wade Ormsby.
