Ian Poulter fades as Satoshi Kodaira claims maiden PGA Tour win

Japan’s Satoshi Kodaira claimed a maiden win on the PGA Tour after a play-off victory at the RBC Heritage, BBC report.

Overnight leader Ian Poulter suffered a final round to forget after the Englishman made four bogeys in five holes on his way to a round of 75 to end the week tied in seventh.

Poulter, 42, was still in with a chance after the front nine, however, he slipped off the pace on the back nine in what was his sixth consecutive week of golfing action.

Kodaira however, shot a superb final round of 66 to force a play-off against South Korea’s Kim Si-Woo, and it took three play-off holes to decide a winner.

The pair played the 18th twice and could not be separated, so they went to the par-three 17th, where Kodaira made a sensational 25-foot birdie to take a shock win.

The surprise win for Kodaira now secures him his full status on the PGA Tour.
