Rory McIlroy produced a stunning second-round seven-under 65 to go into the halfway stage at the BMW PGA Championship three shots clear, Sky Sports report.
The Northern Irishman, who won at Wentworth in 2014, is 12 under par, with his closest rivals being England’s Sam Horsfield and Frenchman Sebastien Gros, who are both on nine under.

McIlroy’s second round came bogey-free, the first time he has ever done so at Wentworth. The 29-year-old made seven birdies, including four in a row on the back nine.
It could have been even better for the world number eight, who missed a putt on the 18th for a round of 64.
McIlroy will be playing alongside 21-year-old Horsfield on Saturday after he birdied six of the last eight holes in his opening round of 67.
Fellow Englishman and Race to Dubai champion Tommy Fleetwood also stayed in touch with leader McIlroy after his second-round 66 left him as the only player on eight under.
